Anyways...I was letting my imagination run wild and I brainstormed this. If anything, it's probably it a bit too extensive, so it might just be used to spark something else. And yeah, I know the staff have little time for plot suggestions...take this simply to be an idea to file away, maybe to inspire something another month, year, whenever... Basically, think about all the shit that happens to Hyakuji City. Raise that to the power of ten. That's the kind of devastation we're looking at here. Zorc, being literally a God of chaos and destruction, caused devastation of kaiju proportions. Now, how the hell does Hyakuji bounce back from all these terrible crises? Consider the fact that Zorc's reign caused so many casualties and cut a massive swath of destruction in the heart of the city. The city's treasury is blown, rescue teams seeking out survivors are completely overwhelmed, response time for any form of city service is shot, the police officers of the city were probably killed or injured in battle with Zorc and his minions...basically we have a massive disaster on our hands. So what if we had a longer-term event that took all of the terrible repercussions of this into account? Consider the following scenario: An international "Allied Recovery Coalition" (The A.R.C.) moves in and takes over at Hyakuji. Whoever the current mayor is, public opinion inevitably turns against them in the wake of poor disaster response and a temporary leader is installed, to whom extraordinary, emergency powers are given. Hyakuji gradually phases, indefinitely, into a state of martial law. The city is handed over to the military coalition. The Japanese government as well as foreign allies have taken a keen interest in the unique "meta-human" students at Hyakuji High School and in the general community as a whole. To say the least, the average citizen feels the pinch of military control and rationing, and the "gifted" student of Hyakuji is pressed even harder to the wall under the all-seeing eye of the state. A "Public Defense Station" has been set up at Hyakuji. It's little more than a military research base under the guise of a glorified police department, devoted to studying the abilities of the students and performing unnatural experiments. Here, the Hyakuji Neo Police are specially trained to keep meta-humans in line. The Hyakuji Neo Police, the tools of the state, will be drawn from the actual player base. In the name of maintaining order and saving the city from complete devolution into crime and chaos, the HNP force has taken to recruiting meta-human students to act as "Special Enforcers". Naturally, there will be several external threats and evil forces (real or otherwise) for the Enforcers to battle. However, they may be forced by the state to keep rebeliious former comrades in line. So in some cases they are the "good" guys, and in other cases they are the "bad" guys. And they get cool uniforms too. And of course, it won't be as obviously clear-cut as I made it seem. There really will be crime and chaos, and there will be a need for order in the wake of disaster, not to mention dark forces moving in on Hyakuji...however, when the "Public Defenders" cross the line into public opressors, sparks will fly as former friends are turned against one another, when the police force snaps up any young "gifted" recruits willing to help with the recovery program. So I gave you my wild idea...dissect it as you wish. |

That's...crazy thought up... But did you forget the day rule of Hyakuji? :3 Everything fixes itself roughly a day after it happens. Why? Who knows. I remember there being a reason behind it but it never came to head, sadly. I'll run it by the other admininininins

I swear this guy is an idea machine in disguise. XD Personally, I'm for this. If we can have the Wo-Shing, why not this? Besides, this could also solve some problems with students who actually graduate. I remeber Drone mentioning what would his char do once he actually graduated, somewhere >> in another topic. This could be the next big storyline in Hyakuji. ^^ |

My secret has been exposed! *tears off his mask* For I am the Idea Machine Supercomputer ver. 3.4!! Fear me!! Feel free to give feedback...and I spurn this "day rule"! And speaking of Wo-Shing, the new police forces could lock horns with them from time to time, in the course of their reign. Not to mention students who choose to form a resistance movement or whatever... |

Back when Triyun was around, I hinted at the possibility the military wanted to take over and some of the more realistic rammifications of what has happened to Hyakuji. Triyun was able to use his influence to keep such things from actually happening, and I don't think most people were ready to deal with the dark truths about what would happen under military occupation. For example, if you are out past curfew, they wouldn't ask you to stop and go back inside, there'd be a strong chance under military occupation you'd just get your characters head blown off by a sniper. I always planned on eventually using Triyun in some other RPG meduim that is darker than Hyakuji to have him run such an organization (unofficially thats where he is right now) though it is not based in this particular city. The RPG I was planning deals with exactly such a force Marek, where the most powerful gifted people are used first against an external threat but eventually morph into a weapon of tyranny with either Kashim or Triyun falling truly too the darkside. If people would like me too offer some help on such a storyline I would be happy to do so. However, I maintain that Hyakuji is much too lighthearted a place to attempt a storyline that ultimately would probably involve a much more serious from of gameplay than I think this place is used too. Edit: Also just because the ninja guild does not show itself at the moment does not mean it isn't omnipresently watching you and plotting with the clouds to kill you in your sleep. Cause it is. |

Alright, I'm back, and I've read everything and thought of it all... the result: I can see how this can work, but a few things will have to change. Pretty much, I like how you're going at this. The usual military takeover and all that... intense. I don't know if we're ready to shift the story of HHS into the direction, as once we get there, there is no turning back. In my opinion, it's way too big for us at the moment... To change the conditions of the city would involve EVERYONE regardless of who they are... which requires a lot of thinking on the staff's ends. We have to think "what about the people who want nothing to do with this?" and so on. So what I'm thinking of to solve that little problem would probably be a different kind of backstory to form this sort of group of Neo Police. Hell, here's an idea that just came off my head: Random unnamed NPCs (now that I think about it, they dont have to be NPCs) who are students of HHS have caused several violent crimes all around the city and the police department would like to step in and take control of the situation. And so, they recruit some of the member base to a special unit of the police department... your HNP. So in a sense, the same scenarios stated in your plot can be played out as usual without the intense HHS-changing environment. The HNP will be curious as to which students are part of the crime spree (maybe Wo Shing?) but they will also be part of the Police.. which means they will have their own special "Rumors" to experience for the Police... Does that make sense? |

I like the reduced scope you came up with. It makes it a lot easier to deal with than my grand plot scheme. I'm all for it! And I'm perfectly happy to help with the Neo Police, if it will lighten the burden at all. That is, when and if you choose to implement this. And a combination of NPCs and PCs involved in the crime sprees sounds like a good idea, not to mention NPC police officers too. That way, crime-minded police-resisters could also have their own rumors, perhaps. And of course, moral ambiguity abounds, so we can have "heroes" on both sides, battling criminals as police or resisting police abuses of power. Plus a character can decide to be evil if they want. But this way it's not as clear-cut. So they can roleplay as the bad cop or the typical criminal. |
